Creative & Functional Recycling the Kids Will Love

Share |

Kids crafts. The importance of reusing items to make our choices as consumers more sustainable is undeniable - well, it can be awesome fun for the whole family, too. You not only reduce the amount of your garbage that goes into a landfill, you avoid the cost of kids art kits. Here are some of the most kid-friendly yet functional trash-to-craft projects:

Use natural hemp paints to decorate old egg cartons (or other kitchen items that can be salvaged from the garbage) into jewelry organizers.

Make crazy color-mixed crayons by melting crayon nubs together in the oven in muffin pans. Freeze for about 45 minutes so they come out easily.

Decorate paper bags with old wrapping paper or greeting card scraps and use to wrap birthday or holiday presents.

Use lightbulbs to make cute christmas tree ornaments.

For the adults, glass containers - wine bottles as vases, a salsa jar as a sugar storage container, can look very trendy and classy as home decorations.
